German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth and Anne de la Blache, First Counselor of the French Embassy, celebrated the grand opening of the joint offices of the cultural centers Goethe-Zentrum and Alliance Française in Atlanta. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed spoke at the festivities.

Books Believed Lost Returned to Germany

Germany has accepted two valuable books lost during the last world war: the 450-year-old Augsburger Geschlechterbuch, which is of art-historical value, and a volume containing photos of art works that Hitler intended for a gallery.

The German government's Transatlantic Climate Bridge was launched at the end of 2008 to  connect all those who seek to make a difference — at the local, the state and the federal level. German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth hosted a celebration of 12 months of successful transatlantic cooperation in the climate and energy arena.

Ambassador Klaus Scharioth visits Mississippi

Ambassador Scharioth with Col. David Smith of the MS National Guard and his son Zachary. The 172nd airlift wing of the National Guard was activated for Haiti relief mission the next day.

German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth visited Mississippi on January 13th and 14th. At the State Capitol, he met with Lieutenant Governor Phil Bryant and House Speaker William McCoy. In his address to the Mississippi Senate, Ambassador Scharioth expressed his gratitude for Mississippi's contribution to support Germany's unity and welcomed Mississippi's efforts to promote foreign investment.
