As the Embassy's center of expertise for public diplomacy, the German Information Center USA reaches out directly to American citizens by sponsoring and organizing special events tailored to specific target audiences, such as teachers and students of German. The German Embassy is honoring German language teachers and their students at high schools and colleges across America. During the 2011 do Deutsch Campus Weeks, German departments at more than 40 universities are partnering with the Embassy to promote German as a foreign language.
