The German Consulate General in Atlanta is the official representation of the German government to the southeast of the Unites States. The district of the southeast includes Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

"Freedom Without Walls Day" Proclamation by Governor Sonny Perdue

On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue issued a proclamation congratulating the German people on their historic accomplishment to peacefully unite their country and to emerge as a strong, cohesive democracy. He urged all citizens to observe "Freedom Without Walls Day" with appropriate ceremonies and to reaffirm their dedication to freedom and democracy.
German Consulate Volunteers for GPB Radiothon

Colleagues from the German Consulate General in Atlanta supported the radiothon at Georgia Public Broadcasting last Friday. Together with other volunteers, they helped answer the phones and recorded membership information of the donors.
Gulfport High School visits Carl Bechstein Gymnasium in Erkner

After an exciting visit in Erkner, 19 students from Gulfport High School have returned to Mississippi last weekend. Originally envisioned as a one time charity concert that the students at Carl Bechstein Gymnasium gave for Gulfport High School in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, the friendship of the two schools has grown into a successful exchange program that has sent many students across the ocean.
All-Star Team of the "2009 German Street Soccer Cup" Travels to Germany

Last Saturday, after five months of waiting and anticipation, it was finally time for the All-Star Team of the 2009 German Street Soccer Cup to depart for their week-long trip to Erfurt, Germany. The six young kickers, three each from Atlanta and Miami, will participate in the "Soccer without Frontiers" camp in Erfurt with teams from Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, and Romania.
