German Consulate General Atlanta

The German Consulate General in Atlanta is the official representation of the German government to the southeast of the Unites States. The district of the southeast includes Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

In the winter semester 1949/50, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Stuttgart set up the first ever student exchange program between the United States and Germany. Sixty years later, it is still one of the most desirable exchange programs between our two countries.

500 guests from the German-American community celebrated the 19th Day of German Unity at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center in Midtown Atlanta on October 5, 2009. This year’s celebration focused on the topics of renewable energies and sustainability. GA-Senator Ross Tolleson, the Chairman of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee, received a big welcome as the featured speaker.
