The German Consulate General in Atlanta is the official representation of the German government to the southeast of the Unites States. The district of the southeast includes Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The beautiful Christmas Market at AIS invited all Atlantans last Saturday to start off their holiday season by enjoying one of the most treasured German holiday traditions.  Cheerful visitors strolled among the many colorfully decorated tents to sample the best of traditonal German food and drink, and to browse through the large variety of authentic hand-made goods for a little Christmas shopping.

Transatlantic Climate Bridge

As part of the Transatlantic Climate Bridge, leaders in biomass energy from Germany and Georgia come together to discuss renewable energies in the Southeast of the United States on December 2, 2009. The panel discussion and networking meetings took place at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and was organized by the German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern US and the German Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The "Marcel Breuer: Design and Architecture" exhibit at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) and the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System featuring the work of world- renowned German furniture designer and architect Marcel Breuer (1902-1981), arguably one of the most influential designers of the modernist period, has enjoyed quite a bit of buzz over the last couple of weeks and will be open to the public throughout the holidays.

6th Alabama Renewable Energy Conference

One of the biggest goals in the 21st century is the reduction of carbon gas emissions through a more efficient use of fossil fuels and the application of renewable energies. Keeping this goal in mind, the participants of the 6th Alabama Renewable Energy Conference on November 17th and 18th at Auburn University discussed new methods to protect the environment and to stop the waste of fossil fuels.
