The Board of Directors of the Woman’s Athletic Club of Chicago hosted an international dinner celebrating Germany on December 8, 2011. The Rheinischer Gesangverein started the dinner by singing a few traditional German songs.

Small wooden houses all arranged in neat rows. The crispness of winter in the air. The sight of Christmas ornaments sparkling under lights. And the smells of hot glühwein, grilled bratwurst, roasted almonds that smell like cotton candy and freshly baked gingerbread. This can only mean one thing: the Christmas season has officially begun in Chicago with the opening of the Christkindlmarket.

The German Consul General Onno Hückmann had the distinguished honor to be a guest of Missouri Governor Jeremiah W. (Jay) Nixon on November 28, 2011, when they discussed their shared concern for principled fiscal policy on state and international levels. It was the Consul General’s first official visit to Jefferson City, Missouri’s state capital.
