German Morgenstern Trio Wins Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award

The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award (KLRITA) is the only existing piano trio award worldwide. The twenty U.S. presenters include Carnegie Hall, the University of Chicago Presents and the Chamber Music Society of Detroit. The German Trio will begin its award tour during the 2010-2011 season and continue through 2011-2012.

The U.S. World War II veteran helped to save the captured archives of the defeated German army. These valuable records, comprising about 6,000 boxes with 18 million record cards, have been used ever since to clarify the unknown fate of thousands of German soldiers and as documentation for pension claims.

The 13 best U.S. candidates met at the Goethe-Institut Chicago to compete in the National Preliminary Round USA. The two winners will participate in the International German Olympics Finals. This world-wide competition is to take place in July 2010 in Hamburg, Germany.
