Containers Enlarge image Containers (© dpa/pa) The Economic Section provides support for German interests in economic, technological, scientific and environmental affairs and in particular follows the macro-economic development in the administrative district of the Consulate General. The department cooperates closely with the German-American Chamber of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) and the German foreign trade and investment agency “Germany Trade & Invest" (GTAI). GACC’s mission is to further, promote and assist in the expansion of bilateral trade and investment. The main aspect of GTAI’s activities is to promote Germany as a location for industrial and technological investments and to identify investors for the German market.

German companies and their subsidiaries are mainly concentrated in the Detroit and Chicago area. Information with regard to establishing and fostering business contacts between the American Midwest and Germany can be obtained from the following institutions:
