Apostille - Legalization of Documents
According to the Hague Convention abolishing the requirement of legalization of foreign public documents, which the USA joined on October 15, 1981, documents certified by a Notary Public and intended for use in Germany have to be legalized by the appropriate office of the Secretary of State (Apostille).
Please address your request for an Apostille to the competent office of the Notary Public's State (see list below).
Make sure to include the original document and the necessary fee with your request and make clear that the document is intended for use in Germany to ensure the appropriate endorsement.
