Important Note: The Consulate General Chicago can only provide those services to residents of the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. If you do not live in this region, please contact the mission that is responsible for your area. Please note: Due to renovation work in the service counter area of the Legal and Consular Department at the Consulate General in Chicago, it is expected that no passport or visa requests can be accepted or processed between December 16, 2014 and March 20, 2015.  Restrictions on visitor traffic in other consulary affairs may also come into effect. We ask for your patience and understanding.

The extent to which other diplomatic missions can provide substitute services is currently being determined. We will inform you on our website as soon as further details become available. If you believe that you will need a passport or visa during the above-mentioned period, we highly recommend that you submit your application now.


2nd Consular Information Evening on 19 November 2014 at 6 p.m. at DANK Haus German American Cultural Center in Chicago !

For the second time, Consular Officers of the Consulate General Chicago invite Germans and persons with German roots to an informal informative evening at the DANK Haus in Chicago. Use this great opportunity to meet our consular officers, and ask questions for example about the application for a German passport, German citizenship, the birth of your German child in the U.S. or your marriage in the U.S.
An interesting evening with plenty of information awaits you, followed by a small reception by invitation of the Consulate General.

All services offered by the Consulate General can be paid for with major credit cards (Visa or Mastercard only).

Please note that surcharges might occur if your credit card was not issued by a bank in Germany. Please contact the bank which issued your credit card for further information.
