Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange

2015 Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program

CBYX for Young Professionals is full-year fellowship to live, study and work in Germany, and is funded by the United States Congress and the German Bundestag. The fellowship is open to Americans ages 18 - 24, and will give them the opportunity to immerse in German language and culture. Application Deadline: December 1, 2014.

George H. W. Bush, 41st President of the United States, received the Robert Schuman Medal on Monday, November 10, during a Bush School conference celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, one of the most far-reaching events in world history.

5K Commemorative Run

'Synchronized' Commemorative Run for the 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

On Sunday, November 9th members of the German-American Community joined the German Consulate in Houston for a synchronized commemorative 5K run to honor the 25 years since the Fall of Berlin Wall at Rice University.

On November 3, 2014 the Houston Symphony presented the world-renowned Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra for their first concert on their tour of the United States in Houston, which is an official sister city of Leipzig, Germany since 1992.

Due to technical difficulties the Passport Department in Fort Bliss / El Paso, Texas (German Air Force Command USA/Canada in Fort Bliss) is unfortunately unable to accept passport applications at this time and will be closed until further notice.

All German Passports, ID Cards, Visa Applicants and Certifications of signatures and Affidavit of support, need to arrange for an appointment in order to hand in their applications. Appointments can only be made online. Every family member needs a seperate appointment.

Important Information – Visas for Hungary and Austria


The German Consulate General Houston is accepting visa applications for Austria (residents of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas only) and Hungary. You will find more information about the Visa requirements on our website.
