Members of the German Parliament Visit El Paso, Alamogordo & NASA

Mr. Markus Grübel, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defense, and Mr. Jürgen Hardt, Coordinator of the Transatlantic Cooperation, arrived in Texas after talks held in Washington, D.C. to tour the German Federal Defence Forces (Bundeswehr) bases in El Paso, TX and Alamogordo, NM and ended their trip at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center / NASA before returning to Germany.

Dr. Klaus Schüler, Federal Director of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Germany, visited Houston on Friday, January 23rd.

Houstonfest 2015 - Call for Volunteers

Founded in 1980, Houstonfest is an annual competition for Houston-area students in grades 8 through 12 who are learning German. Houstonfest needs as many German speaking volunteers as possible to serve as judges and to make the competition successful.

Leipzig Marathon 2015

In 2015 Leipzig celebrates its 1000th anniversary of the earliest mention of the city. In cooperation with the International Office of the City of Leipzig, the Leipziger Stadtsportbund, who organizes the marathon, and the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association Houstonians are invited to run in Leipzig, either the full or the half marathon.

All German Passports, ID Cards, Visa Applicants and Certifications of signatures and Affidavit of support, need to arrange for an appointment in order to hand in their applications. Appointments can only be made online. Every family member needs a seperate appointment.

Important Information – Visas for Hungary and Austria


The German Consulate General Houston is accepting visa applications for Austria (residents of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas only) and Hungary. You will find more information about the Visa requirements on our website.
