The Bobs 2015

Deutsche Welle (DW) launches its renowned international contest "The Bobs - Best of Online Activism" with a new approach. The focus is now on the "Freedom of Speech Award."

For the 11th time, Deutsche Welle is honoring exceptional online activists and projects from around the world. DW streamlined key points of The Bobs 2015. The most important change: DW will hand out the Freedom of Speech Award for the first time. It will honor a person or initiative that takes an exemplary stand for human rights and freedom of expression in the digital world.

Consul General Redeker Visits Louisiana

Consul General Ricarda Redeker made an offical visit to Louisiana February 5th and 6th, where she met with Honorary Consul Paul Anderson as well as NOLA City Mayor, the Port Authority, the World Trade Center and BASF members in Geismar.

Mr. Markus Grübel, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defense, and Mr. Jürgen Hardt, Coordinator of the Transatlantic Cooperation, arrived in Texas after talks held in Washington, D.C. to tour the German Federal Defence Forces (Bundeswehr) bases in El Paso, TX and Alamogordo, NM and ended their trip at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center / NASA before returning to Germany.

Leipzig Marathon 2015

In 2015 Leipzig celebrates its 1000th anniversary of the earliest mention of the city. In cooperation with the International Office of the City of Leipzig, the Leipziger Stadtsportbund, who organizes the marathon, and the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association Houstonians are invited to run in Leipzig, either the full or the half marathon.

All German Passports, ID Cards, Visa Applicants and Certifications of signatures and Affidavit of support, need to arrange for an appointment in order to hand in their applications. Appointments can only be made online. Every family member needs a seperate appointment.

Special Announcement

The Passport Department in El Paso, Texas will not be accepting passport applications until further notice.

Important Information – Visas for Hungary and Austria


The German Consulate General Houston is accepting visa applications for Austria (residents of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas only) and Hungary. You will find more information about the Visa requirements on our website.
