Foreign Minister Steinmeier on the death of Roman Herzog
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Roman Herzog. We have lost a great constitutional law expert, politician and statesman today.” Roman Herzog served as Federal President from 1994 to 1999. Before that, he was President of the Federal Constitutional Court. “To me, Roman Herzog was an upright, honest and intelligent man who did not shy away from spelling out hard truths but never lost his refined sense of humor.” The Foreign Minister expressed his deepest sympathy to Roman Herzog’s family and loved ones.
