Due to construction work at the German Consulate General of Los Angeles, the passport and visa section will not be able to process any applications from January 16 until March 31, 2017.

To apply for a National Visa (more than 90 days), please make an appointment with the German Consulate General of
Applicants who have received a visa from the German Consulate General of Los Angeles since June 2014 or who have already submitted fingerprints to the Schengen authorities during a past visa application with another Schengen State are asked to send their applications to the German Consulate General of Los Angeles through the US Postal Service.

The Federal Republic of Germany is the new owner of the Thomas Mann house in Los Angeles where the Nobel Prize-winning novelist lived from 1942 to 1952 and wrote “Dr. Fautus” and “The Holy Sinner.”

Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann hosted a house concert at his residence given by German jazz performers Markus Burger and Jan von Klewitz. The concert is part of celebrations to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.
Deputy Consul General Kathrin Steinbrenner visited Denver, Colorado, where she presented two schools with the prestigious PASCH Award, and handed out German language diplomas to Cherry Creek High School students.

Vice Consul Peter Schmitt and Vera Dindoyal, German Language Consultant for the Central Agency for Schools Abroad, were honored to present 18 students of the German American School Association with German Language Diplomas at the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles on September 10.
