Applicants who have received a visa from the German Consulate General of Los Angeles since June 2014 or who have already submitted fingerprints to the Schengen authorities during a past visa application with another Schengen State are asked to send their applications to the German Consulate General of Los Angeles through the US Postal Service.

Book of Condolences for Roman Herzog
The Consulate General of Germany announces with profound sorrow that the former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Roman Herzog, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the age of 82 in Germany.

The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Los Angeles announces with profound sorrow that 12 people have lost their lives and 49 were injured as a result of an attack at a Christmas market in Berlin on December 19, 2016.

On December 6, Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann presented Louis Fantasia with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit, bestowed on him by President Joachim Gauck of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Federal Republic of Germany is the new owner of the Thomas Mann house in Los Angeles where the Nobel Prize-winning novelist lived from 1942 to 1952 and wrote “Dr. Fautus” and “The Holy Sinner.”
Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann and Michael Reiffenstuel, Federal Foreign Office Deputy Director General of Culture and Communication, along with the General Directors of the three participating German museums, attended the press preview and opening reception for the “Renaissance and Reformation: German Art in the Age of Dürer and Cranach” exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in Los Angeles.
Deputy Consul General Kathrin Steinbrenner traveled to San Diego for Neuroscience 2016 where she met with German scientists and participants taking part in the 46th annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.

Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann hosted a house concert at his residence given by German jazz performers Markus Burger and Jan von Klewitz. The concert is part of celebrations to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.
Deputy Consul General Kathrin Steinbrenner visited Denver, Colorado, where she presented two schools with the prestigious PASCH Award, and handed out German language diplomas to Cherry Creek High School students.

2016 German Currents
The Los Angeles-Berlin Sister City Committee celebrated its annual Oktoberfest with a festive garden party at the residence of Consul General Hans Jörg Neumann.
Over 500 guests attended the annual Day of German Unity reception hosted by the German Consulate General Los Angeles to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the reunification of Germany.
