Opening of Exhibition Landscape

At yesterday’s exhibition opening, guests and friends of artist Gerd Eisenblätter’s paintings immersed into upper Bavarian charme and tranquility and enjoyed themselves along pleasant talks and tasteful wine. The exhibition Landscape by Gerd Eisenblätter gathers paintings from the last 5 years, all inspired by relatively unspectacular, but not less harmonic views and places of the artist’s home region, the alpine upland in Bavaria.

They came from Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York: In a festive ceremony at the Consulate General on Tuesday, September 30, German Language students received the Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD), the German language diploma. The ceremony was followed by a reception for the successful students, their parents and family, friends and teachers.

60 years ago the United States and her Allies saved more than two million men, women and children from hunger and cold in what became one of the greatest humanitarian efforts in history: The Berlin Airlift. For more than one year, every three minutes an Allied plane landed in blockaded Berlin. When the Soviet Union cut off Berlin from the outside world, all supplies, food, fuel, industrial goods and raw materials had to be flown in.

The Float "germanyinnyc.org" at the Steuben Day Parade

Each year the biggest German-American Parade in the country draws large crowds of Germans, German-Americans and friends of the German-American Community who want to be part of the huge celebration. More than 2000 persons participated in the parade, among them were 21 groups from Germany.
