On September 19, the 52nd annual Steuben Parade, the biggest German-American procession in the United States and one of New York City’s most colorful parades, drew large crowds and a sea of black, red and gold to Fifth Avenue. It was the time of year again, when thousands of Germans and Americans of German origin came together with friends of the German-American community to celebrate their heritage and friendship. Joined by tourists and visitors from all over the world, with a lot of oompah and pride, Germans and Americans turned Fifth Avenue into “Fest” Avenue.

Empire State Building in black, red and gold

Starting tonight New York’s famous landmark skyscraper, the Empire State Building, will shine in the German national colors of Black, Red and Gold. Illuminated in the colors of the German flag, the lighting marks and celebrates the 52nd Steuben Parade that will tomorrow turn Fifth Avenue into “Fest” Avenue.

On September 9th the Grolier Club opened the exhibition "In Pursuit of Knowledge", organized by Leipzig University Library to commemorate the 600th anniversary of Leipzig University.The exhibition is also promoted by the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
