At the top of the list: how to protect the rule of law and democracy. That’s of particular relevance now for the countries that experienced the Arab Spring. The question asked at the 32nd Forum on Global Issues at the German Foreign Ministry in May 2013: how can Germany provide effective assistance as nations attempt to establish their own democracies? Internet freedom is now recognized as a principle of universal human rights. But what does that mean exactly? The conference "The Internet and Human Rights", taking place on the 13th and 14th of September, is a platform for exchange and debate. It was initiated by Aarhus University, Human Rights Watch, the Institute for Internet and Society at the Humboldt University and the German Foreign Ministry: (© AA)
