Office Hours - Consular and Legal Services
The Legal and Consular and Section is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m., except on selected German and American Holidays (consult "Official Holidays" on right hand side). Last admission without appointment is at 11:30 am.
Applicants for German passports, for visa or citizenship matters (naturalization/restoration of German citizenship, permission to retain German citizenship, certificates of citizenship, renunciation of German citizenship) are required to make an appointment. Online-Appointments will also be required for regular signature certifications and notarizations of photocopies.
Applications in citizenship matters generally can be sent in by mail.
For full notarizations ("Beurkundungen") you will have to make an appointment via telephone.

All other consular services (e.g. life certificates) and the pick-up of certificates in citizenship matters are available without appointments during the office hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
