Please note that it will not be possible to schedule an appointment
on December 24, 25, 26, 31 and New Year’s Day.

Starting March 10, 2008 all passport applicants have to schedule an appointment! 

Applications by mail for a regular German passport can no longer be processed. 

However, passports for children under the age of 6 years and temporary passports (issued only in an emergency) can be applied for by mail as fingerprints will not be entered in those passports. 

Passports issued before Nov. 1, 2007 without fingerprints stay valid until the expiration date.

How to make an appointment:

The Consulate has appointed Abtran Ltd. exclusively to handle all appointments for our passport clients. You cannot arrange for an appointment by calling the Consulate directly.

(the charge will appear on your monthly telephone bill, $2.49 per minute).  

The opening hours of the call center are Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (Pacific Standard Time) except for December 24, 25, 26, 31, New Year’s Day and Good Friday. 

(Note: Some premium numbers (1-900) may be blocked by workplaces and also by some cell phone companies. Alternatively, you may call the 1-800 number from most phones and pay by credit card.). The average call duration is four minutes.

Please have the following information of the applicant ready when calling Abtran Ltd.:

-          First and last name

-          Date of birth

-          Telephone number

-          E-mail address

-          Passport number (not necessary in case of first time applicants)

Once you have made an appointment, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Abtran Ltd. Please note that Abtran Ltd. will only handle the appointment and not answer any questions regarding the passport application itself. Please refer to our website to make sure that you bring the necessary documentation when you come to the Consulate.
