Berlin Festival of Lights
Each fall the Festival of Lights turns Berlin into a sparkling metropolis as artistic illuminations give city landmarks a new look. The city's world-famous historic sites, like the Brandenburg Gate, the television tower in the East and the radio tower in the West, the modern Potsdamer Platz and museums, among others, are staged by means of lights, projections and fireworks. Cultural events around the city complement the light installations. One tradition is a run that includes passing through the illuminated Brandenburg Gate. In 2012, the Festival of Lights will take place from October 10 to 21.
