German Program for Transatlantic Encounters (Transatlantic Program)
The Transatlantic Program supports exchange programs, projects, seminars, and conferences in the cultural, educational, academic, and economic spheres which have a clear transatlantic connection.
The aim is to promote work on transatlantic programs, including one-time projects or startup aid for new innovative ideas and longer-term programs.
The Transatlantic Program focuses on people-to-people contacts across the Atlantic and beyond, while placing special emphasis on conveying a modern and candid picture of Germany as well as on promoting the German language and culture.
Twice a year, an interministerial committee – consisting of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Chancellery, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research – decide on how to distribute the promotional funds, which can be granted for a maximum period of five years.
All organizations, institutions, and exchange programs that are in some way dedicated to the transatlantic dialogue may apply for promotional funds from the Transatlantic Program. Applications, submitted in the German language, must be received at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology by February 1 or August 1 of each year.
