Germany 2011/2012 UN Security Council Member

Since 1 January 2011 Germany has been a member of the United Nations Security Council. This means that for the next two years Germany will shoulder a special responsibility for international affairs, according to Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. Following previous terms in 1977/78, 1987/88, 1995/96 and 2003/04, Germany is now serving its fifth term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.
