Germany Calls for Ceasefire, Securing of Humanitarian Supplies in Middle East

The German Government is calling for a ceasefire to begin rapidly in the Middle East. At the same time, it is concerned about the poor humanitarian situation in Gaza. Therefore, it has made available a total of more than 11 million euros in humanitarian aid in the Palestinian territories.

In telephone conversations with the Israeli Prime Minister and the President of the Palestinian Authority, Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed their concern about the continuing hostilities in the Middle East, urging that all parties involved must find the way back to a political process.
