Rules, Terms and Conditions

The following Germany.info Gift Emporium contest is open to persons who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and are at least 18 years of age or older as of their date of entry. Employees of the Federal Republic of Germany affiliated with any of the nine German missions (embassy and consulates general) in the United States, as well as their immediate families, are welcome to make a submission but are not eligible for the drawing. All applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited by federal, state, or local laws.

1. Sponsor: The Sponsor of the Germany.info Gift Emporium contest is the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany represented by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, 4645 Reservoir Road NW, Washington, DC 20007-1998.

2. How To Enter: The Germany.info Gift Emporium contest runs until an end date determined by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, DC. Participant must complete the online entry form at www.Germany.info. In order to complete the entry, the entrant must submit all required information: full name, address and contact information; choice of prize package; reason for deserving the prize package. One entry per month per person/e-mail address/mailing address only. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the contest or website; violates the official rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. By entering, participant accepts and agrees to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the judges.

3. Prizes: Prizes are grouped into gift packages: Professional package contains a pen, notepad and portfolio; Sports Fan package contains a T-shirt, cap, and miniature soft soccer ball; Techie package contains an Acrobot toy and multiple-USB hub; Environmentalist package contains garden gloves and a salt-water-powered clock; Genießer package contains an apron and glass stein. Sponsor does not guarantee package availability and reserves the right to change prizes or  combinations available at any time.

Ten (10) prize packages will be awarded per each month of the contest.

4. Prize Winner selection: A jury comprised of staff of the Embassy whose decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the contest will select the best answers from among the eligible entries each month. From that initial selection, ten (10) monthly winners will be selected via random drawing at the beginning of the following month. Drawings will be conducted by a jury comprised of staff of the Embassy whose decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the Drawing. Winners will not be eligible for subsequent monthly prize drawings in this contest.

5. Prize Winner notification: Winners will be notified by e-mail. If Winner fails to respond to said e-mail within the deadline stated in notification, Sponsor will make one (1) attempt to reach Winner using the phone number, if provided. If any winner does not respond to said e-mail and/or  phone call notification within seven (7) days of its transmission or should the e-mail be returned as undeliverable, his or her rights to any prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. 

The names of the winners will be published on www.Germany.info.

6. General Rules: All entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be acknowledged or returned. Every participant represents and warrants to the Sponsor that he/she has the absolute right, power and authority to transfer the ownership of the materials submitted to Sponsor and that neither the materials nor their use shall infringe upon or violate the right of privacy or right of publicity of, or constitute a libel or slander against, or violate any common law or any other right of, any person or entity. Sponsor has the right to edit and/or alter any submission and reserves the right to not use the material submitted at all and/or as little of the material in the Sponsor’s sole discretion.

Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, telephone failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled or delayed electronic communications whether caused by the sender or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this contest which may limit the ability to participate or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this contest. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the promotion if it becomes technically corrupted, and draw winner from eligible entries received prior to cancellation. By entering, entrants agree that all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these official rules, participant’s rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the United States of America, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GAME IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH CONTESTANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.
