Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE)
RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. It offers unique opportunities for undergraduate students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 2 to 3 months during the summer.
RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. The working language is English. All scholarship holders receive stipends from the DAAD to help cover living expenses, while partner universities & research institutes provide housing assistance.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
The Foundation, named for the visionary nature researcher and explorer, universal genius and cosmopolitan, scientist and patron Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. Every year, the Foundation's research fellowships and research awards enable more than 2,000 researchers from all over the world to spend time researching in Germany. The Foundation maintains a network of more than 25,000 Humboldtians from all disciplines in over 130 countries worldwide--including 49 Nobel Laureates.

In linking German government agencies and science, intermediary and industrial organizations operating in the field of international cooperation in education and research, Kooperation International helps promote the cross-border networking of research institutions and educational establishments, thereby stimulating the initiation of collaborations.
