Language and Education
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Do you speak German?
Engaging with the German language encourages dialogue, exchange and cooperation between people and cultures. The German Missions in the United States work with many institutions, including the Goethe-Institut, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), American Association of Teachers of German and Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA)—as well as individual teachers, students, and Deutschbegeisterte—to support and promote the German language in the USA. Read on to learn more and get involved!
With 100 million native speakers, German is the most commonly-spoken language in Europe. Around the world, 15.4 million people are learning German as a foreign language today. There are many good reasons for studying German, and a large number of resources, online and offline, to help you gain fluency in the language of Goethe, Gauß, and Grönemeyer.
