The season finale of the Formula One was won by Sebastian Vettel. "That was the perfect finish to the season," said the German after the day-to-night race was over on November 2.
The 22-year old distanced teammate Mark Webber and Jenson Button, to take the chequered flag in the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the first 'day-night' race in Formula One history.
Vettel, lying in second place, was able to take advantage of the early retirement of Briton Lewis Hamilton and, once in first place, never relinquished the victory. The victory saw Vettel finish in second place overall, having already lost the title challenge to Briton Jason Button at the Brasilian Grand Prix.

Shortly after his victory in Abu Dhabi, Vettel also won the Race of Champions at the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing, China. Vettel and his teammate, the seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher, claimed their third consecutive ROC Nations Cup title on November 3.
Sebastian Vettel has quickly made a name for himself on the Formula One circuit. He already has several records under his belt, including youngest Grand-Prix Winner in Formula One history and this year mounted a title challenge that lasted until the second-to-last race of the season.
The debut of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was widely hailed as a success. Commentators agreed that the effect of starting the race in the afternoon sunlight and finishing in darkness under the glare of spotlights was a winner.
Speaking after the race Vettel said "We will be even faster [next season]". He will be looking to continue his ascent in Formula One and, if this season is anything to go by, next season could see him fight for the title.
Jenson Button, the new World Champion, warned "Mclaren and Ferrari will be strong again. Four teams and eight drivers will be fighting for the title, that's never been the case. It could be the most exciting season of all times."
