Tokio Hotel Wins MTV EMA Best Band

Tokio Hotel was crowned Best Band for the third successive year at the MTV Europe Music Awards, held on November 5 in Berlin.

"This makes us really happy and proud," said frontman Bill Kaulitz. Receiving the award, the 20-year-old paid tribute to their fans "For your love, energy and your infinite support."

The band from Magdeburg, Germany, played their hit "The World Behind My Wall", finishing the song to accompanying fireworks. Other notable winners of the night included Beyoncé who was awarded prizes in three categories - Best Artist, Best Song and Best Video.

The Irish rockband U2 played a free concert in front of the Brandenburg Gate resplendent with a spectacular lightshow displaying images of the Berlin Wall and signs such as "Durchfahrt verboten." On the night, U2 were decorated with the Best Live Act award.
