German Bundestag Elections

On the occasion of the Bundestag elections, over 300 Germans and interested parties gathered on September 27, 2009 for an election party at the Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge.

The hosts for this event were the German Consulate General in Boston, the John J McCloy Scholars Program and the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies.

In the J.F. Kennedy Forum, decorated with German flags and motifs, the guests were first able to get themselves in the right mood with German specialites such as weisswurst, potato salad, draft beer and apple strudel.

After that the first projections and analysis could be watched live on the large screen TV. In the panel discussion that followed, moderated by Consul General Friedrich Löhr, Professor Karl Kaiser and Professor Charles Maier from Harvard University as well as Professor Thomas Berger from Boston University offered their expert assessments of the election results.
