DANK - 50 Years and Counting...

On November 7, 2009, The German American National Congress, also known as DANK, hosted a Gala Banquet to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Founded in Chicago in 1959, DANK has evolved into the largest organization of German-Americans with over 30 chapters spread throughout the United States.

German Consul General Onno Hückmann was among the guests of honor at the event. In his remarks, he recognized DANK’s tireless commitment to preserving German heritage, language and culture and the organization’s instrumental role in the adoption of the Congressional resolutions declaring October 6th German American Day on a national level.



In a message of greeting, German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth expressed his high appreciation and deep gratitude to DANK for its ongoing efforts to promote German culture in the U.S. and to make it accesible to a broader public.
