On Wednesday, October 14, Consul General Wolfgang Drautz presented Dr. Eugene Jussek with the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, which was bestowed on him by President Horst Köhler of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Dr. Jussek was honored with the Cross of the Order of Merit in recognition of his commitment to improving and fostering German-Jewish relations.  In his capacity as a consultant to the German Consulate in medical matters (Vertrauensarzt), Dr. Jussek was of great help in assisting Holocaust survivors in restitution matters. For his exemplary service and contribution in reconciling German and Jewish citizens, Dr. Jussek was recommended by Rabbi Judi Glasner, President of the United Orthodox Rabbinate, for the highest tribute paid by Germany to individuals for their outstanding achievements in the field of social, charitable or philanthropic work.
