On Monday, November 9, the German Consulate General participated in a sustainable energy symposium hosted by the German American Business Association in West Hollywood.
Protecting the environment means much more than ensuring clean air and pure water. It is a way of life and way of thinking.
The State of Baden-Württemberg, which lies in the south-west of Germany, is a leader in terms of innovation and is devoting considerable resources to the research and testing of efficient technologies such as fuel cells technology and renewable energies. It intends to increase its energy efficiency still further to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and make a positive contribution to climate protection.
The initiators of the symposium, Baden-Württemberg International and zafh.net, provided a forum for interested parties in green building design and technology to share expertise and discuss experiences with transatlantic counterparts as well as exchange ideas and know-how with German professors, policy makers, architects, and designers on the latest trends and developments in technology.
Baden-Württemberg International's mission is to raise the State's profile as a leading site for business, as well as a center of excellence for higher education, science, and research. Baden-Württemberg International is therefore the first point of contact for companies, research institutions and universities, looking to cooperate with local partners in industry and sciences or to invest in Baden-Württemberg.
Zafh.net is the Centre of Applied Research on Sustainable Energy Technology. Founded in 2002 as a research network with the focus on energy consumption and energy-efficiency of buildings, city districts and regions, the zafh.net is one of three centers of excellence in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. The research network offers a pool in which universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg can accumulate expertise to profit of synergies and interactive research power. The target of the zafh.net is to extremely reduce the energy consumption of buildings making them more and more energy-efficient and sustainable.
