Consul General discusses German elections at Florida International University

On September 30th, 2009 Consul General Ranner together with political scientists and historians with vast German experience took part in a panel discussion at Florida International University in Miami. With a very lively audience they discussed the results of last Sunday's general election in Germany. The differences between the rather complicated German electoral system and the one of the US came out very clearly. The analysis covered the detailed result as well as the reasons for this result and the the prospects for the coming four years under the new "black-yellow" government, both internally and with respect to Germany's foreign policy.
