The Piano Duo Humburger from Mannheim were the stars of the "Freedom Without Walls" concert at the residence of German Consul General Klaus Ranner on November 6th, 2009 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The Dranoff International Two Piano Foundation had invited the Humburgers back to Florida, where they had won several prizes at the Foundation's 2008 competition. Pieces of Schubert, Brahms and Wagner played four-handed by the two virtuosos on a piano provided by Steinway was the appropriate program for the celebration. What better encore could they play than Beethoven's Ode to Joy!
