On the occasion of the visit of a Delegation from the German Federal Ministry of Transport, building and Urban Affairs to California, the Federal Republic of Germany and the California High-Speed Rail Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding on High-Speed Rail Transportation on August 28, 2009 in Sacramento.

Germany and California are herwith set to establish and develop a long-term cooperation in the field of high-speed rail transportation. Germany, in particular will make available its expertise with the GErman high-speed train ICE that has traveled more than 600 million miles since it maiden trip on German soil in 1991. It can travel at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.
