The 40th  Anniversary of the Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers coincides with another anniversary:
The 20th  Anniversary of the “Velvet Revolution” and the fall of the Berlin Wall.On the very week of their  concert in 1989, a huge demonstration of over 70,000 people took place in Leipzig – the heart of the resistance to the Communist regime in East Germany, and less than a month later the Berlin Wall came down and was celebrated later that year with Leonard Bernstein conducting Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The Orchestra will begin their season with a commemorative concert featuring that same great work, and they will pair it with a wonderful Bach Cantata, “Jesu, der du meine Seele” (No. 78) honoring Bach’s town, Leipzig.
