The world-renowned Tölzer Knabenchor (Tölzer Boys Choir) will tour the United States from December 13 to 18. The choir, which was established in 1956 and has since performed countless concerts per year at home and abroad, will appear first in California. On Saturday, December 13, at 8 p.m., in Los Angeles, and on Sunday, December 14, at 4 p.m., in Santa Monica, the choir will present Christmas oratorios by Johann Sebastian Bach, accompanied by adult male voices, brass, and timpani.
After this lively start, the Tölzer Knabenchor will travel on invitation by the German Embassy to Washington, DC, on Wednesday, December 17, and Thursday, December 18, to present another highlight with concerts featuring Alpine Christmas music (starting at 7 p.m. each night). With harp, organ, and violin accompaniments, traditional Christmas songs from the German-speaking Alpine region can be heard in the festively decorated United Church (intersection G and 20th Streets, NW). Following the concerts in Washington, DC, all visitors are cordially invited to close out the evening together with hot mulled wine and German Christmas pastries. Germany.info will be giving aways 5 pairs of tickets to each Washington, DC performance. Click on the link at the upper right to enter.
The tour is made possible through the generous support of the Goethe Institut, Unit for the Promotion of Amateur and Young Musicians.
