Defense Minister Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg is visiting Washington, DC, on November 19 and 20.

He met with US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates at the Pentagon on November 19. He is also scheduled to meet with members of the Senate and Congress.
Minister zu Guttenberg gave a talk at the Center of Strategic and International Studies to the forum on "The Future of the Transatlantic Relationship: Afghanistan, NATO's new Strategic Concept, and the Challenges of Burden Sharing" on November 19.
Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg has been Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany since October 28, 2009. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 and served as Economics Minister in the former government.
