In Conversation with ... German-Iranian Author Navid Kermani

The Goethe-Zentrum / German Cultural Center would like to invite you to an evening with German-Iranian author Navid Kermani.
Navid Kermani was born in 1967, and holds both German and Iranian citizenship. He studied Oriental Studies, Philosophy, and Theater in Cologne, Cairo, and Bonn. Since then he has lived as a writer in Cologne and is currently Senior Fellow at the “Kulturwissenschaftliches Kolleg Essen”.
Navid Kermani has written a number of very well-received titles, non-fiction as well as fiction, on the relationship between the West and the Near East. His latest work of non-fiction, Wer ist wir? Deutschland und seine Muslime addresses parallel societies in Germany. The author’s first title in English, The Terror of God, will appear in September from Polity Books.
Besides writing books he regurarly publishes articles, esp. in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit, and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. For his literary and academic work he was awarded numerous prices, the latest being the Buber-Rosenzweig-Medal, which had never been awarded to a Muslim before.
He is currently working on his new novel, Dein Name, to be published by Hanser Verlag this fall.
