Rauhnacht is a dance theatre piece based on archaic rites from the alpine and asian regions. The nights between 24th of December and 6th of January are called 'Rauhnächte', the closest translation for that could be "rough nights." The historic records say that in this time, men are able to meet the spirits from the past, as well as other mysterious creatures who travel through space and time.

The piece questions the human duality of good and evil and the human relationship toward the enigma of our existence - where we come from and where we go to. It makes a merging of different realities on stage accessible for the spectator. Rauhnacht combines Hannah Ma's previous pieces: 'Dieu/Monstre', 'ARENA' and 'Exist Is The Repeat of Practice Rauhnacht Enlarge image (© Bohumil Kostohrytz)
