Ensemble MISE-EN will hold its fourth annual MISE-EN Music Fesitval - A six-day (June 20th - June 25th, 2017) New Music festival featuring Ensemble MISE-EN with Chartreuse Ensemble and the 2017 MISE-EN Music Festival fellows.

We are proud to host the second day of the festival, including a matinee performance of works composed by Arne Gieshoff (Germany), Alyssa Weinberg (USA), and Sojin Yoon (South Korea), alongside a performance celebrating the 100th anniversary of late Korean-German master-composer, Isang Yun. By performing the work of Isang Yun, MISE-EN will provide a rare vista into one of the most underrepresented forces underpinning the landscape of 20th century composition. Hailed by the New York Times for the “haunting” quality of his work, Yun is a rare and transcendental composer, who, throughout the course of his life sought to bridge gaps between peoples and cultures distrate in origin. The impact of Yun’s musical life on Korean culture has been compared to one of  “19th-century Western composers who elevated the native idioms of their countries into classical form” (New York Times). Indeed, the celebration of his 100th anniversary has proven to be a global event and this concert will be the only event in New York City!

Over the course of the six day festival, the ensemble and participating composers will give a total of 6 concerts (one of which being an evening length ‘marathon’ concert, exemplified by Bang on a Can) to be showcased at venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including: The German House, MISE-EN_PLACE Bushwick, New York University, Scandinavia House, and the Taipei Cultural Center.
