- Increase our energy and national security;
- Reduce the levels of damaging greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere;

Join TIME Hero of the Environment 2008 Søren Hermansen and Mayor Wilfried Roos of the City of Saerbeck as well as additional delegates from Germany and Denmark, who will come together with business and community leaders in the Charlottesville region for a day-long forum on sustainable ways to community prosperity – including a keynote speech by the President of ACORE, Vice Admiral Dennis V. McGinn (USN, ret.).
Come hear the story of Denmark and its pledge to make the country fossil fuel free by 2050. Learn about the municipality of Thisted that is almost fossil fuel free now; the island of Samsø that achieved energy self-sufficiency in a decade’s time; and the island of Bornholm that is a new green laboratory focused on electric cars, solar deployment, energy efficient construction and the development of an intelligent electricity system.
Learn about Germany, a leader in energy efficiency and renewable energies. Meet representatives of the City of Munich, the municipality of Saerbeck and the former US base Scharnhauser Park; and learn how 118 German cities and regions are going to have 100% renewable energy supply in the near future.
Join the community leaders of Charlottesville as they discuss the region’s many green projects. The City of Charlottesville’s 2025 Green City Vision and the University of Virginia and Darden School of Business will be discussed. These representatives will show the leadership, research and education that it takes to build a renewable energy infrastructure.
