FASH Award Committee Announces 2012 Theme, Calls for Submissions
Since 2005 the Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie (German Fashion Industry Foundation, SDBI) has been hosting the European Fashion Award FASH annually. This year the award - which was created in order to support design and fashion students - revolves around the theme "SEXes" as the jury searches for "new images for men - which in turn reveal new images for women too."

"Are men the new fashion victims? Are men afraid of beauty? How important is erotic capital to their style and their identity? Are fathers the new mothers? Does the classic guy have a future? In other words: what makes a man? And what does he look like?" asks Joachim Schirrmacher - FASH project director and jury membes - in a press release announcing the 2012 call for participants.
Design students are welcome to answer these questions in a submission to be considered for the award. Registration must be completed by September 30th, while the submission deadline is October 25th (2012). Specific guidelines are available at www.sdbi.de.
The jury who will be selecting a winner include prestigious members of the fashion community such as Margaretha van den Bosch of Hennes and Mauritz (H&M), as well as Robb Young, Marcel Herrig, Michael Sontag, and Dr. Adelheid Rasche. Winners will receive a photo session for their collection, as well as "comprehensive communication services" and 5,000 euros in cash. The prize is valued at 80,000 euros and winning projects will be exhibited at the ISPO Munich 2013 from February 3-6, 2013.
