In cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office, German Military and Civil Defense, the crisis team in Atlanta developed a response plan and organized the deployment of a relief team to Miami. Small teams were sent to Tampa and Ft. Meyers.

The main tasks were to provide consular assistance and disaster relief to more than 200.000 Germans living in the area affected by hurricane Irma and to support the German Consulate General in Miami.

Immediately after the re-opening of Miami airport on Tuesday, 12 September, a German Airforce Airbus 310 landed and the relief team went into action. The assistance mission is currently on-going at various affected areas in Florida.
