27th Day of German Unity Celebrated in Atlanta
Consul General Ruenger welcomes the guests
300 guests from the German-American business community, government, the Atlanta Consular Corps, the armed forces and many other friends and partners followed the invitation of Consul General Detlev Ruenger and his wife Iris for the annual celebration of the Day of German Unity at Ventanas, a beautiful roof-top venue with striking views of Downtown Atlanta and the city's latest attraction, the brand-new Mercedes Benz Arena.
Consul General Detlev Ruenger greeted the guests and thanked them for the excellent cooperation over the past year. He highlighted the state of German-U.S. relations and remarked how impressed he was with the continued growth of German business in the Southeast. He further complimented the German-American organizations in the Southeastern United States for their dedication and expressed his gratitude for their invaluable contributions and outreach on behalf of Germany and its culture and language.
Enlarge image (© Germany.info) The German and U.S. national anthems were sung by the chorus of the Atlanta International School under the direction of Greg Hucks. The lovely performance was a great expression of the evening's purpose, celebration the strong friendship between Germany and the United States.
After the formal program of the evening, guests enjoyed mingling and networking with old and new friends. The German buffet with bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato salad and pretzels contributed to the authentic German atmosphere.
