A large part of this success can certainly be contributed to Colonel Heinz-Josef Ferkinghoff, Commanding Director of the German Air Force Flying Training Center at Holloman AFB, who will retire at the end of May 2016.

Colonel Ferkinghoff joined the German Air Force in July 1973. He is a command pilot with more than 2,100 flying hours in various types of aircraft and has served in the United States since 2011, starting as Commander of the German Air Force Command in USA and Canada at Fort Bliss, Texas.
During his time in the military Colonel Ferkinghoff was awarded with the German Armed Forces Cross of Honor in Gold, as well as the USAF Outstanding Unit Award in recognition of his distinguished service. Recently, he was also awarded with the Meritorious Service Medal of the United States of America for his exceptional service in fostering international cooperation at Holloman AFB.

We thank Colonel Ferkinghoff for his commitment and the outstanding collaboration throughout his five years with the German Consulate General in Houston!
