Germany has a new Honorary Consul in Orlando. On March 25, 2010 Consul General Klaus Ranner handed over the letter of commission signed by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, the nomination diploma signed by the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Consular ID issued by the US Department of State to J. Brock McClane. The City of Orlando had kindly given the Rotunda at City Hall as the venue for this ceremony. More than 100 guests - Brock McClane's family, Orlando's Consular Corps, the German Honorary Consul in Naples, members of the German and international business community - attended and were welcomed by Mayor John Hugh "Buddy" Dyer. Former US Senator Mel Martinez was one of the first to congratulate Brock McClane. Finally Brock McClane received the official crest for his office. After the official part the guests could enjoy typical German delicacies from kitchen and cellar.
