On March 1, 2012, the Honorary Consul of Germany in Orlando hosted the "Backstage with Bach" event in conjunction with the Consulate General of Germany in Miami's official sponsorship of the St. Matthew Passion performance by the Bach Festival Society at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida on March 4, 2012. Approximately 100 guests attended at Knowles Chapel to have a sneak preview of the performance during the choir and orchestra's rehearsal. Bach Festival Society Artistic Director Dr. John Sinclair introduced guest conductor Dr. Christoph Wolff who is the chairman of the Bach Archiv in Leipzig, Germany. Before the rehearsal, Dr. Wolff gave the guests an in depth feel for the meaning and musical interpretation of the St. Matthew Passion by Bach in Bach's time. Following a 30-minute segment of the rehearsal, the guests convened in the Galloway Room and on the Galloway Terrace for a reception of German food, and of course wine and beer.
