The Berlin-based Children’s Art Museum (Kinder-Kunst-Museum e.V.), a “museum in a suitcase” founded in 1993, is currently accepting submissions of artwork for its 8th World Children’s Art Exhibition entitled "Give Me Your Hand" ("Reich mir Deine Hand"), to be held in 2013.
Young artists ages 3-17 are encouraged to submit artworks consisting of decorated outlines of a single hand—their own—on a self-made postcard measuring 21x15 cm (8.26 x 5.9 inches). Artists are invited to place their hand on the piece of cardboard, draw an outline around it, and then let their imaginations roam free to create a fanciful picture using no special technical aids. On the backside they should write a brief message to an "unknown friend." Participants should clearly write their name and age in block letters and attach proper postage to the card. Schools or classes that wish to participate as a group may also send multiple cards as a packet, in which case children can create and decorate their own "stamps."
The postcards should be sent to the following address by August 31, 2012:
Kinder-Kunst-Museum e.V.
8. WKA
Hartmannsweilerweg 9+11
D-14163 Berlin
GERMANY
Selected works will be published in a catalogue or DVD which will later be given to the young artists as a souvenir and symbol of friendship with the "Museum Silver Leaflet" award. All institutions and schools will receive a thank-you certificate for all children and a DVD or catalogue. In addition, all submissions will be exhibited for two years on the website of the museum:
Have fun with your project!
Attention! Please be aware that artworks will not be returned to the artists. They will take part in future projects of the Kinder-Kunst-Museum e.V. to help create better international understanding.
