The German regulations on importing alcohol, cigarettes and souvenirs can now be stored on your smartphone for easy access on vacation. The German Customs Administration and the Federal Ministry of Finance presented a program on Friday that can be installed on smartphones to assist travelers with German customs regulations. The free “Customs and Travel” application provides an overview of outlawed souvenirs – such as endangered plants or animals – and the exemption limits for alcohol, cigarettes and other products.
Federal Deputy Minister of Finance Werner Gatzer praised the application’s utility, saying during the launch at the Munich airport that tourists could use it to “quickly and easily find out what goods can be brought into Germany and which are best avoided.” The app is available for both Apple and Android devices. It is offered in German only.
