Ambassador Ammon Welcomes Court Decision on ESM as Good News for US

which was endorsed by a two-third majority decision of the German Parliament, to set up the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

Dr. Peter Ammon, German Ambassador in the United States declares:

“The decision of the German Constitutional Court is excellent news for the U.S.

Germany remains committed to the euro as the European single currency, which is not only an economic but also a fundamental political priority. The ruling of the German Constitutional Court opens the door to overcome the sovereign debt crisis in Europe and secure the euro.

By exercising solidarity with its partners Germany pursues its strategy of fostering growth and fiscal stability.”
