19th Day of German Unity Celebrated at the GA Tech Hotel

500 guests from the German-American community celebrated the 19th Day of German Unity at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center in Midtown Atlanta on October 5, 2009. This year’s celebration focused on the topics of renewable energies and sustainability. GA-Senator Ross Tolleson, the Chairman of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee, received a big welcome as the featured speaker.

First German-American Student Exchange Program Celebrates 60th Anniversary

In the winter semester 1949/50, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Stuttgart set up the first ever student exchange program between the United States and Germany. Sixty years later, it is still one of the most desirable exchange programs between our two countries.

"Guten Tag" Slangman - A New GPB Show Makes Language Learning FUN!

Slangman's World, a wacky new show on Georgia Public Broadcasting teaches kids phrases in eight different languages and inspires them to want to learn more about the people and cultures around the world. Fun is the key. Slangman's World is a feast for the senses, giving children more to discover every time they watch it.

All-Star Team of the "2009 German Street Soccer Cup" Travels to Germany

The All Star Team of the 2009 German Street Soccer Cup travels to Erfurt, Germany

Last Saturday, after five months of waiting and anticipation, it was finally time for the All-Star Team of the 2009 German Street Soccer Cup to depart for their week-long trip to Erfurt, Germany. The six young kickers, three each from Atlanta and Miami, will participate in the "Soccer without Frontiers" camp in Erfurt with teams from Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, and Romania.

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall - in Atlanta!

The German Consulate General and the Goethe Zentrum/German Cultural Center invite you to join us in a celebration of one of the biggest milestones in German history – the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

We will celebrate this joyous occasion on the actual anniversary of the event on November 9th, 2009 at Colony Square Mall from 6:30p.m. to 8:30 pm.

Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) Presents "Marcel Breuer: Design and Architecture"

To kick off their 2009/2010 season, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) partners with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System to present a dual location exhibit featuring the work of world-renowned German furniture designer and architect Marcel Breuer (1902-1981), arguably one of the most influential designers of the modernist period.

Open to the public October 27 – January 16, 2010, the exhibt will be housed at both the MODA galleries and Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Central Branch, the last major public building Breuer designed.

"Berlin Kreuzberg SO 36" - Before and After the Fall of the Berlin Wall

Join us for the grand opening of the "Berlin Kreuzberg SO 36" exhibition at the Goethe Zentrum and meet the artist Peter Frischmuth who will give a tour of his works on November 9th, 2009 - the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. 

His photo exhibition captures the people and the streetscape in one of Berlin's most famous districts and the changes that occurred after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
